Maternal Pulmonary Embolism of Amniotic Fluid

Abstract
A case of maternal pulmonary embolism of amniotic fluid is reported. The need for search and study of additional cases is pointed out in the hope that a diagnosable clinical pattern might evolve, that the pathogenesis of the disease may be better established and that the disease may be prevented. Embolism of amniotic fluid along with thrombotic embolism, air embolism and embolism of placental tissue constitute the 4 major causes of pulmonary embolism during labor and the immediate puerperium.
