Abstract
The fauna from eight benthic samples in Chalky and Preservation Inlets is considered and four infaunal assemblages recognised. A comparison with the benthic ecology of Milford Sound shows considerable differences but varying sampling techniques preclude a detailed comparison. The echinoderms Psilaster acuminatus (Sladen), Ophiuroglypha irrorata (Lyman), Ophiacantha imago Lyman, and Brissopsis oldhami Alcock are recorded from Fiordland waters for the first time. Keywords
