Abstract
The in vitro incorporation of 14C-labeled leucine, alanine and glycine into the proteins of rat anterior pituitary tissue was studied. Thyroidectomy, orchiectomy or adrenalectomy all enhanced alanine incorporation into pituitary proteins. However, T4 injection into these treated animals was effective only in thyroidecto-mized rats in suppression of increased incorporation. The suppres-sive effect of T4 in thyroidectomized rats was evident after 3 hr. The peculiarity of the response of anterior pituitary tissue to thyroid states was demonstrated in the de novo synthesis of proteins. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
