Abstract
A cylindrical dielectric-resonator antenna coated with a thin dielectric layer and operating in TM01 delta mode is studied numerically. The input impedances of the antenna with dielectric coatings of different values of relative permittivity are calculated using the finite-difference time-domain method. It is demonstrated that the impedance bandwidth of the antenna can be substantially improved if an appropriate value of the relative permittivity of the dielectric coating is chosen.
