Abstract
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in childhood is perhaps the newest chronic childhood illness and carries with it a number of ethical, political and economic dilemmas that result in complex problems not only for the family, but for the paediatric nurse involved in the care. Despite the importance of these problems, a review of the UK nursing literature reveals a dearth of information to guide paediatric nurses.
