Abstract
2×4 optical interconnects are realised by plastic optical fibres which are precisely aligned by means of 2D arrays of holes. Coupling to the emitters and detectors is accomplished by low loss 90° fibre bends. The total insertion loss of a 20 cm long 2×4 interconnect is 2 dB ±0.2 dB at 633 nm, including two 90°-bends.Keywords
