Community and Hospital Outbreak of Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis

Abstract
An epidemic outbreak of keratoconjunctivitis due to the type 8 adenovirus occurred in the Philadelphia area from April to December 1967. One hundred and two patients were involved with 50 occurring as isolated cases in the community and 52 having a contact history with medical or paramedical personnel before the onset of their infection. The course of infection, clinical and laboratory findings, methods of prevention, and treatment are described.
