Abstract
Cultures from 360 outpatient, 264 inpatient and 149 environmental sources were examined for the presence of Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter species. Pseudomonads other than P. aeruginosa were found in wet environmental sources and in respiratory tract cultures from patients with tracheostomies but not in other patient materials. P. maltophilia and P. putida were the most frequent of these. Acinetobacters were found in both wet and dry environmental sources and in both inpatient and outpatient cultures.
