Abstract
Noting that success in reuse is limited by a need for new tools to help capture and retrieve various life cycle products, the author discusses how SRSGEN (software reuse system generator) accomplishes this goal. Expected benefits of the SRSGEN approach include more flexibility in responding to customer needs, faster response time in developing new system features, and better streamlining of the overall development process by reducing proliferation of unnecessary variation of general-purpose software modules. Throughout the paper, a switching system is taken as one of the examples of a large-scale software application. Keywords
