Use of nuclear plant operating experience to guide productivity improvement programs. Special report

Abstract

This memorandum presents the results of an extended evaluation of the operational performance of domestic, light water reactor (LWR) nuclear electric generating units. Relevant operating and outage data have been compiled and analyzed to help quantify priorities for productivity improvement programs. Two main topics are covered: (a) the compilation, analysis and convenient display of sources of outage of system and component, and (b) a quantitative method for selecting R and D efforts on the basis of projected gain in plant productivity.
