Abstract
Variational principles for a rarefied gas flow past an arbitrary three-dimensional isolated body are formulated, based on the linearized BGK equation. Both the constant wall temperature case and adiabatic wall case are considered. It is shown that the stationary values given by these principles are related to physically meaningful quantities such as drag and heat flux. The principles are valid for all Knudsen numbers. Keywords
