Abstract
Automated psychological testing has great potential for facilitating the work of the psychologist, psychiatrist, or indeed, anyone who uses psychological tests. A great deal of research has been done with computer‐assisted methods, and very real progress has been made in this direction. Computer facilities are not necessarily required, for many psychological tests may be fully automated by less expensive and less cumbersome means, and it is the purpose of the review article to investigate the work that has been done with automated testing systems, not requiring computer facilities, and to outline some of the arguments concerning the advantages of such automated testing methods.
