Abstract
HABROBAENUS hudsoni gen. et nov. sp., described from males and a pupa [collected in the Chatooga River, South Carolina, USA], is related to Hydrobaenus Fries sensu Saether. Habrobaenus appears to form the sister group of either Trissocladius, or Trissocladius and Zalutschia combined. The peculiar morphology of the immatures of Baeoctenus bicolor Saether, described here for the first time, probably reflects their parasitic habit on the gills of Anodonta.
