Abstract
There is much confusion in Higher Education over the UK Training Agency′s Initiative to introduce enterprise education to the curriculum. The article explores the objectives of the Initiative and examines how they are being interpreted and implemented in Durham University. The Initiative is not intended, the article argues, to create student entrepreneurs but rather to develop in students and staff the requisite capability and competencies to cope with the opportunities and challenges of the 1990s and beyond.
