Abstract
The World Wide Web (WWW) is becoming an important source of laboratory information, reference material, and educational activities. Laboratorians can easily access the WWW with desktop computers. Hypertext markup language, the standard software protocol used in the WWW, provides virtually limitless options for laboratory use. The visual nature of clinical and anatomic pathology makes it well suited for hypermedia. Laboratorians can use it to create training and procedures manuals complete with graphic images or animation. Or, continuing education courses can be created using photographic images that have been scanned electronically to create graphic images.
