Abstract
Water rights consist basically of direct flow and storage rights. Numerous complications arise from the first in time—first in right concept. In addition, change in point of diversion suits, water right valuations, changes in use, water right acquisitions, and new adjudications require detailed water engineering studies that, in turn, require special techniques and methods. There are many special problems under the appropriation system, and these problems must be analyzed carefully if the vested rights in a basin are not to be affected adversely.Keywords
