Abstract
Mesangial cell cytoplasm was studied light microscopy. Plastic embedded [human] renal biopsy material was used. An assessment of mesangial cell morphology was made in each of the 350 renal biopsies, and this was correlated with the disease process. A close correlation with type of disease present was demonstrated. It appeared that an increase in mesangial cell cytoplasm correlated with an active process involving the mesangial area. The index of mesangial cell reactivity may be useful in diagnosis of glomerular disease processes. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
