Abstract
Beetles of the cybocephalid genus Cybocephalus occur throughout the subtropical and tropical regions of the world, feeding mainly upon diaspine Coccidae and spp. of Aleyrodidae. A review of the literature indicates that little is known about the habits of this predator of which about a dozen spp. have been described. Beetles of this genus were found in 1942 in a Chico, Calif., almond orchard feeding on the Hall scale, Nilotaspis halli. Laboratory observations confirmed the beetle to be a predator of this scale. No conclusions are drawn regarding biol. control because of limited data. Keywords
