Abstract
The author presents an historical perspective of the technology affecting the development of information science over the years and vice versa. Included are vignettes of some of the pioneers whose foresight and imaginative application of technology brought us to where we are today. The impact of new information technology on existing library and information services is discussed and an adjusted role for tomorrow's information scientist is advanced.Keywords
