Abstract
A single, well preserved, araucarian megastrobilus, belonging to the genus Araucarites, from the upper Motuan (Late Albian) of Wairarapa is discussed in general terms. Previous work on fossil araucarian remains from New Zealand is briefly reviewed. Investigation of the enclosing matrix showed that Araucariaceae were dominant pollen sources in the New Zealand flora at this time. Keywords
