Abstract
A retrieval method that uses key images is proposed for image databases. The key images represent layout information of the target image. Therefore, key images can appear explicitly in the target image. The layout information presentation scheme is also discussed. The key-image-matching method used to search for the target image in the database is described. Applying the concept of ambiguity to the matching method, users' requests can be reflected more accurately and flexibly. Keywords
