Abstract
IN the United States, the currently recommended regimen for treating trichomonal vaginitis is metronidazole, 250 mg by mouth three times a day for 10 days.1 Ross, Woodcock, and Csonka report successful therapy of trichomonal vaginitis with a single 2-g dose of metronidazole (Flagyl).2 3 4 Several other short treatment courses have been presented and summarized.5 6 7 8 Reinfection, recurrence because of a relatively alkaline vagina, and persistence of symptoms because of other infections, have been discussed.9 Morton has "concluded that a simple 2 gram treatment schedule with metronidazole is adequate treatment for trichomoniasis in both sexes."10 The rapidly attained high serum level of metronidazole . . .This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
