Plate reconstructions and gridded data: A new tool in deciphering correlations across oceans

Abstract
This paper describes a new development in plate reconstruction techniques: the use of gridded data sets. Rotation poles that summarize the evolution of an ocean are used to transform data grids to the reconstruction framework. In this way, information contained in the gridded data is retained for the correlation of features from one side of the ocean to the other. The method is illustrated by a reconstruction of the bathymetry in the Labrador Sea and part of the North Atlantic.Keywords
