Abstract
Patients with generalized anxiety who have not responded to psychological treatment from their family doctor may require symptomatic drug treatment whilst awaiting specialist therapy. This study indicates that propranolol is effective and relatively safe for this purpose. Atenolol is also effective but has unacceptable cardiovascular effects in anxious patients. Keywords
