Dielectric Relaxation in High Polymers

Abstract
The dielectric properties of high polymers at low temperature are investigated. The following behaviors of the low temperature absorption are confirmed: (i) The shape of the absorption curve is very broad at lower temperatures and becomes narrower at higher temperatures. (ii) The apparent activation energy is very small. (iii) The magnitude of low temperature absorption is independent of the magnitude of high temperature absorption. It is shown that these behaviors can be interpreted phenomenologically in terms of generalized Fröhlich's resonance absorption mechanism.
