Abstract
When large populations of the tropical rat mite are produced in the laboratory, induced filarial infections among rodents permit investigators of filariasis to undertake research problems which heretofore have been closed. L. bacoti may be reared and maintained in the laboratory by constructing artificial rat nests similar to those found in nature. Directions for rearing are given and precautions offered. Phases of the life cycle of the mite are mentioned.
