Applications of the Hypothetical Perfect Gas Perturbation to Study the Continuity Between Gas-Solid and Gas-Liquid Equilibrium and to Evaluate Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium

Abstract
The idea of a hypothetical perfect gas perturbation has been used to show evidence of continuity between the methane-ethane mixture gas adsorption equilibrium on silica gel and the same mixture vapor-liquid equilibrium. Tracer chromatography combined with the hypothetical perfect gas perturbation has been applied to the methane-n-octane system at −25°C up to 70 atm to measure the K-value of methane and the liquid phase molar volume.
