Abstract
Observations on body temperature and metabolism in the cold have shown a clear hibernation response in Perognathus hispidus. The thermal conductance (0.16 cc O2/g-hr-°C) was at an average value for a mammal of this size. The body temperature of the quiet animal was 36.2°C and the basal metabolic level was 1.28 cc O2/g-hr.Keywords
