Abstract
The author reviews the historical background and the chemical, physiological and pathological relationships between ACTH and cortisone. The conditions in the treatment of which it is of importance, and those in which it is contra-indicated, are listed. The side effects of the 2 drugs are given. A review of the author''s and his colleagues'' experiences with ACTH in the treatment of asthmatic and other allergic conditions is given in detail. The paper contains the historical bibliography of the most important contributions in this field. Keywords
