In vivo Staining of the Kidney with Alcian Blue: An Adjunct to Morphological and Physiological Studies

Abstract
Techniques for in vivo staining of the kidney with Alcian blue are described. It results in a vivid coloration of the glomeruli and of the different renal zones which has proved very useful both to demonstrate renal morphology and to facilitate some physiological studies including precise delimitation of kidney zones counting and isolation of glomeruli, localization of microspheres and studies of renal perfusion patterns.
