Abstract
From numerical simulation of an experiment to measure the ion temperature in a Tokamak by Thomson scattering the authors show that it is possible to measure simultaneously the magnetic field angle, provided that the field vector is almost perpendicular to the scattering plane. Over a large range of plasma parameters the angle may be determined without degradation of the precision with which Ti can be measured. Without any modification to the system used for an ion temperature measurement, information on the poloidal field strength or safety factor can be obtained. Keywords
