Abstract
Experimental and theoretical results are presented concerning the influence of polarisation-mode dispersion (PMD) in an advanced fibre-optic supported millimetre-wave system. By using high birefrigence singlemode fibre, the power penalty due to PMD has been investigated at a millimetre-wave frequency of 60 GHz. These experimental results confirm a theoretical approach which enables the calculation of the impact of PMD in long standard singlemode fibres.
