Abstract
A review of studies on the chromosome numbers of many of the parasitic helminths and parasitic protozoans with the consideration of the possible value of chromosome number, size, or behavior in determining taxonomic status of the various forms. Such studies indicate the usefulness of such records, especially at the species level, and in many of the species do indicate certain natural groupings, usually in accord with evidence based on other criteria. Such evidence is not to be relied upon too heavily in the absence of other proof since "ploidy", fragmentation or fusion of chromosomes may be frequently misleading. Further studies in the field are believed to be of value. Keywords
