Nutrition of Rural Elderly in Southwestern Pennsylvania

Abstract
This article reports on a nutritional study conducted among elderly residents of rural southwestern Pennsylvania (PSA 08). Diet analysis reflected deficiencies in calcium and calorie intakes, similar to findings reported for this age group elsewhere. The environment of diet and nutrition for those respondents is discussed, with implications for program planning. Finally, specific modifications in nutrition intervention for the service population based on these findings are reported by the program nutritionist.
