Abstract
It is shown that the small, rapidly moving, highly turbulent puff of gas produced by a high-energy ignition device is mathematically similar to atmospheric thermals or puffs generated by mechanically injecting one fluid into another. This is so even though the length and time scales may differ by many orders of magnitude betw, een the situations. Keywords
