Abstract
The first demonstration of 30 dB gain in a 1.3 µm Raman fibre amplifier at a pump power of only 350 mW at 1.24 µm is presented. To obtain high-gain efficiency, silica-germanium fibres possessing both increased GeO2 content and simultaneously reduced Ge-induced losses have been used.Keywords
