Abstract
The most suitable LiTaO3 massproduction techniques for SAW TV.IF filter devices application with economy have been established. SAW-grade LiTaO3 single crystals up to 62∼75 mm in diameter and 130 mm long, have been successfully grown along the a-axis by CZ-technique using Pt-Rh crucible. Disk shaped X-cut substrates 500 μm thick with orientation-flat have been massproduced from cylindrical crystal ingots. If SAW was propagated along the rotated Y-112° on the X-cut plate, bulk wave spurious signal responses were suppressed to less than −40 dB. Low temperature coefficient (∼18 ppm/°C) and appropriate coupling constant (K2∼0.75%) were certified. It was confirmed that the SAW characteristics were insensitive to impurity (Rh) concentration and composition ratio of Li and Ta in practical usage. However, the characteristics were sensitive to domain reversalKeywords
