Abstract
The buccal mucosa in both celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis behaves in the same manner as the skin with regard to immunofluorescence [for immunoglobulin A]. The simple technique of buccal punch biopsy is used to give further confirmation of the diagnosis of dermatitis hepetiformis and in patients with an equivocal diagnosis proves easier than carrying out repeated skin biopsies. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
