Abstract
IN RECENT years the ophthalmologist has often been confronted with the problem of arterial hypertension, as in modern therapy ophthalmoscopy is of great importance in the prognosis of the disease. It seems to us of interest to see whether, in addition to use of the ophthalmoscopic picture, visual acuity, and visual fields in judging the retinal function, a method can be developed by which a really objective judgment of the retinal function can be obtained. As the electrocardiogram is closely related to the metabolic condition of the retina, electroretinography offers, in our opinion, such an objective method for the examination of retinal function.
