Abstract
Ni concentration in serum and whole blood and excretion in urine was assayed at different time intervals before and after ingestion of Ni sulfate in 8 healthy volunteers for 3 days. Peak level of Ni in blood was reached 2.5 h after Ni ingestion, and maximal urinary excretion of Ni was during the 1st 8 h after ingestion. Great individual variations in Ni concentrations in blood and excretion in urine were observed. Analysis of Ni in urine and serum reflected ingestion of a soluble Ni salt, but urine seemed to be most reliable.
