Abstract
The type of the genus Platysiphonia Borgesen (Delesseriaceae, Rhodophyta), P. miniata (C. Agardh) Borgesen, and a previously undescribed species, P. caribaea sp. nov., are reported from Puerto Rico. The new species is characterized by having an ecorticate blade from which branches are initiated at the proximal end of the central axial cell. Platysiphonia caribaea is also reported from Belize and Mexico in the western Caribbean. Apoglossum gregarium (Dawson) Wynne is recorded for the first time from the Caribbean, and A. ruscifolium (Turner) J. Agardh is reported from the Argus Bank off Bermuda. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
