Abstract
Extract During the last decade significant advances have been made in the control of oestrus and ovulation in domestic animals and this topic has been reviewed many times within that period (Hansel, 1964 Allen, W. R. and Rossdale, P. D. 1973. A preliminary study upon the use of prostaglandins for inducing oestrus in non-cycling thoroughbred mares. Equine vet. J., 5: 13740–13740. D. and Irvine, C. H. G. 1974. Induction of luteolysis and oestrus in mares with a synthetic prostaglandin analogue (ICI 81008). N.Z. vet. J., 22: 107–110. This paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of the major methods for oestrus control and discusses the major overall problems associated with this control. Keywords
