Fibre Bragg reflectors written at 262 nm using a frequency quadrupled diode-pumped Nd 3+ :YLF laser

Abstract
The first use of a diode-pumped frequency-quadrupled Nd3+:YLF laser to write gratings into photosensitive fibres is described. Writing times of a few tens of seconds are required to write gratings with reflectivities approaching 100%.
