Abstract
Pressure curves obtained in isolated rabbit hearts after the end of externally imposed constant flow pulses were divided by isovolumic pressure curves at the same volume. An exponential decay to a constant level, generally lower than one, was observed. The time constant equaled that found for switching-on of the flow pulse. The results indicate that flow deactivation can be described as a decrease of ventricular elastance.<>Keywords
