Abstract
The LD50 values for aldrin and diazinon, in micrograms of insecticide per insect, were determined for adult corn rootworms over large areas in the North-central States. Results indicated that resistance to aldrin in western corn rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera LeConte, is present in western Iowa, northern Kansas, northwestern Missouri, southwestern Minnesota, and southeastern South Dakota. Northern corn rootworm, Diabrotica longicornis (Say), is resistant to aldrin in localized areas of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Both species were quite susceptible to diazinon in the areas studied.
