The reduction potential of cysteine

Abstract
Traces of such catalysts as Fe and Cu salts greatly increased speed of reduction of methylene blue by cysteine. They did not, however, affect reduction potentials acquired by gold electrodes in cysteine solutions. This is evidence against the hypothesis put forward by Dixon to explain the behavior of electrodes in cys-tine-cysteine solutions.
