Abstract
APPROXIMATELY 1200 articles pertaining to the surgery of peripheral vessels have been published since the last progress report six years ago.1 In addition, a number of textbooks have appeared during this time, and although none are completely satisfactory, two are worthwhile to the general reader2 , 3 and another clearly emphasizes the technical aspects of vascular surgery.4 This review is an analysis of progress rather than a comprehensive report of the literature.
