GIS for development: a contradiction in terms?

Abstract
Summary Is it possible to make appropriate use of GIS for ‘development’ (here defined as change desirable for the poor) in countries where human and financial resources may be limited? We argue that it is, and should be taught, but that there are no quick fixes.Keywords
