Abstract
Understanding of the pathogenesis of acute ischemic coronary syndromes has lead to the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities offering the possibility of improved clinical outcomes. This article details the importance of the vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, invlammaiton and plaque rupture and thronbosis in the development of the clinical manifestations of an acute ischemic coronary syndrome. Keywords
