Fractionation of Sera from Guinea Pigs at Different Stages of Brucella abortus Infection.

Abstract
Paper electrophoresis analysis showed no new serum components in infected animals. Significant increases in the gamma globulin fraction were observed 3-4 months after infection. The rise in gamma globulin coincided with the highest agglutinin titers in sera of infected animals. Changes in the concentration of the alpha-1 and alpha-2 globulins occurred within the 4-5 month infection period. The beta globulin exhibited very little variation throughout the 12 month experimental period. Decreases in albumin concentration followed gamma globulin increases.
